Quick History (before I purchased the car)
|
My mechanic, Brittanic Motors, happen to come across a MGB GT that was in close to original shape, with some minor rust on the rocker panel as well as the drivers side fender. Mechanically, the car was wonderful, other than sitting for 20 years! The previous owner stored it in his heated garage because of a minor (suspect bad fuel pump) repair
Bob at Brittanic Motors went through the car, bumper to bumper, fixing everything that needed repairing:
- rotors
- pads
- rubber lines
- shoes
- hardware
- wheel cylinders
- New SU fuel pump
- New fuel hoses
- Rebuilt the SU carbs
- New ignition
- plugs
- wires
- cap
- rotor
- points
- condenser
- Adjusted the valves
- Many other minor issues
After inspecting the car, he found the front end in perfect condition. Unibody was straight, even though there was indication of a minor accident on the front. Upon starting the freshened up motor, the oil pressure instantly goes to 80 lbs. Runs smooth, idles nicely! The tires were in good shape, but over 20 years old.
The car sports and original factory windshield as well as factory original, and WORKING heated backglass in the hatch!
Some of the obvious initial repairs needed would be tires, as well as bodywork to stop the rust on the rocker panels.
